Sudan

Dear Family and Friends,

In the fall, I had the glorious privilege of traveling with Greg Ford to carry the cross in Sudan!! God has given Greg an awesome ministry there and incredible favor with the government there in southern Sudan. While there they even allowed us to use a 4-wheel drive vehicle and driver! Greg holds crusades and pastor conferences and is even starting a Bible School there.

For the past two years, I have felt God’s burden to take the cross to this war-torn nation, but wanted to wait until His timing was right. I began to pray about carrying the cross there in Sudan on my fortieth birthday. By God’s amazing grace, I turned forty in September. I know that turning forty often saddens many, but I am thrilled and amazed that God has given me the privilege of living this long! I have always felt that the goal of life is not, necessarily, to put more years into our life, but to put more life into our years! Then, in God’s perfect timing I had the privilege of carrying the cross there in Sudan just after my fortieth birthday!

The conditions of daily life in Sudan are heartbreaking. Yet there was so much joy in the midst of all the sickness, hunger, and suffering! There is absolutely no road system left. The main highway is now simply a dirt road filled with potholes often filled with water that is waist deep. While we were there, bomber planes would sometimes awaken us as they flew low over the places where we slept. Sudan is definitely a nation in need of Good News! We flew into Uganda, then traveled north through the cities, Yei to Afa and on to Meridi. Along the road, people would crowd around the cross to hear how much God loves them and to hear how He traveled from heaven to this earth to die on an old rugged cross. They thrilled at the news that Jesus is alive and that there is hope – that there is a heaven where there is no more sorrow, or sickness, or pain! It was absolutely awesome!!

God Bless You!!
