Some Great Bible Prayers

It is great to be able to pray from the heart. Heart to heart fellowship with God is awesome! Yet, sometimes, others who have thought and felt the same way have expressed their prayer in ways that give special meaning to our time of fellowship with God. Here are some great prayers from others in the Bible.

"Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight,
let me know Your ways that I may know You"
(Exodus 33:13 in the Holy Bible:NASU )

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
(Psalm 139:23-24 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer."
(Psalm 19:14 in the Holy Bible:NIV)

"God, have mercy on me, a sinner." (Luke 18:13 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

". . .not my will, but yours be done." (A Prayer by Jesus in Luke 22:42 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

"Here am I. Send me!" (Isaiah 6:8 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

"Speak, for your servant is listening." (1 Samuel 3:10 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

"Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen." (A Prayer by Jesus in Matthew 6:9-13 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

"Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." (Psalm 19:13-14 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

" I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart. Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O LORD; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me." (Psalm 40:8,11 in the Holy Bible: NKJV)

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.
Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."

(Psalm 51:1-17 in the Holy Bible: NIV)

"Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. Redeem me from the oppression of men, that I may obey your precepts. Make your face shine upon your servant and teach me your decrees. "
(Psalm 119:132-135 in the Holy Bible: NIV)
